There are so very many people involved in caring for the church and churchyard in some way or other that we thought we should remind ourselves of some of the many tasks that are undertaken to keep everything running smoothly:
The church gets cleaned every week, the altar linen is washed and the altar frontals are changed to reflect the church's seasonal colours. The organ gets played, the choir sing, the ringers ring and the server serves. The sound system is looked after and "tweaked" as needed. The flowers are arranged and watered, the tower clock is wound every week and St. George's flag is flown on special occasions. The sidesmen are on duty to welcome the congregation and to tidy up after the service. The lessons are read and the intercessions are led. The collection gets counted and taken to the bank. The accounts are kept and audited and the bills get paid. Sunday School lessons are prepared and given. Coffee, tea and refreshments appear and cakes get made for coffee mornings and many other occasions. Burnt out candles are removed and replaced and new ones ordered. Pew leaflets and Newsletters are typed, printed and delivered. Posters are created, secretarial and correspondence gets dealt with. The churchyard is cared for and the wheelie bins, 2 for rubbish and 2 for green waste, are put out by the lych gate every week. The hymn and psalm numbers get put on the hymn boards. The "Friends" scheme is administered and the sales table is kept stocked. And then there are all the committees that people serve on: P.C.C., Standing, Music and Worship, Finance, Social and Fundraising, Sunday School, Fabric, and the Appeal Committee. And the very latest job has been the preparation and maintenance of our church website. And so the list goes on and on, not forgetting our Vicar who ministers to his flock and our Reader who does so very much more than sit in his armchair with a good book as his title would imply!
So, to all of you who help in any way we give our heartfelt thanks,
